Imagine you are learning to ride a bicycle. The first few times you try, you may fall down and not be able to balance properly. Instead of thinking “I failed at riding the bike,” you should think “This is just feedback that I need to practice more and make some adjustments.”
You see, failure is a label we put on things when they don’t work out perfectly the first time. But in reality, every experience provides you with feedback about what you need to adjust or try differently next time.
When you fall off the bike, it’s the feedback that you need to pedal faster, steer properly, or keep your balance centred. It’s information to help you get better, not a failure.
If you keep practising based on that feedback, you’ll eventually learn to ride the bike smoothly. The same applies to anything new you try, like a sport, an instrument, or a school subject.
If you don’t get it right away, it’s not a failure. It’s just feedback showing you what areas to work on more. Every mistake or struggle is simply a lesson to help you improve.
The most successful people don’t see their difficulties as failures. They see them as feedback that helps them get better and better until they achieve their goals.
So instead of feeling bad about failures, think of them as valuable feedback. Pay attention to what the experience is trying to teach you, make adjustments, and keep practising with that feedback in mind. Before long, you’ll be a master!
